Our Current Story Continues. Originally founded September 1,1881, we continue to grow and support the southwest district of the Iowa UMC.
The members of the church wrote out their favorite scripture verses which are preserved under the floor of the new sanctuary. The Carson United Methodist Church is a church built on the Word of God. Our church is at 300 Washington Street in Carson, Iowa. It was completed Mother’s Day May 2, 2002.
2026 Events: We became a member of an expanded circuit, PottCo and Friends. We continue to be active in Riverside Church Association.
Our website, Carsonumc.com, came to life. We continue to stream to our YouTube channel every Sunday. We continue to have many activities that reach out into the community. At Riverside games, our yellow shirts show that we are supporting the various teams. A group attends the Carson school to lunch with the kids. Our Ubutu ministry is reaching out beyond the church.
We joined with the RCA churches (less Macedonia) to host vacation bible school. The music was loud and the kids louder. The VBS cave made it to the Rodeo parade and ended up in the sanctuary.
Youth ministry is continued as an RCA project. We did confirmation as a East Pottawattamie circuit group. Our soccer program from last year did not get a chance to resume.
Men’s breakfast continues and is slowly growing, An amazing once a month (first Sunday) event that is just for guys. A great time for guys of all ages. Our adult Sunday School continues with strength. Youth Sunday school happens during worship on Sundays.
Sadly we said goodby to Pastor Jacques Manirakiza. He is moving to the east side of the state where he will shepherd 5 churches. We welcomed our new Pastor Marcel Okito. We are excited by his musical ability and youth, home visits, new ministries and new energy as we continue to serve the community.
